Transferring and Registering a domain name

Register a domain

  1. create new order and select REGISTER DOMAIN
  2. use domain search to check availability of domain
  3. If available, set number of years to register for. If NOT available, you can tick alternate domain in list shown, or search for another domain name.
  4. tick additional domains you wish to register in the list of available domains and set number of years to register for.
  5. if domain name requires ABN / ACN (all .au domains), it will request Registrant ID, Registrant Name etc which is required. Check http://www.auda.org.au/policies/2012-04/ for policy on ABN / ACN eligibility
  6. Set domain name servers if default name servers not required
    NOTE: at this stage you can add hosting for this domain also if required
  7. Fill out YOUR DETAILS form (if not logged in to existing account)
  8. Fill out payment method form and process payment.

 Transfer a domain

  1. obtain domain transfer password from current registrar. Known also as Domains Transfer key, EPP Code or AuthInfo Code
  2. ensure the domain's registrant details currently have an email address set to which you have access to.
  3. create order on client.safehost.com.au
  4. select TRANSFER DOMAINS
  5. enter in your domain name
  6. availability will advise if possible to transfer or not
  7. Enter EPP Code (domain transfer password)
  8. change name servers if required (default is set to ns1.safehost.com.au etc)
  9. Fill out YOUR DETAILS form (if not logged in to existing account)
  10. Fill out payment method form and process payment.
  11. domain transfer authorisation email will be sent to the email address set in domain's registrant details (hence why step2 is strongly recommended to be checked)
  12. click link in email to authorise domain transfer

Domain transfers typically complete within 5 working days after transfer has been authorised
